EDIT 4/19/22: As of this edit, Saber has added Horde Mode and the Marseille campaign (as well as local LAN play!) via a free software update. It is still unknown as to whether the Aftermath DLC will be coming to Switch, but the added value in the free update is astounding. The first thing one needs to do when playing a Switch port of a Triple-A title is to manage their expectations…the Switch is meant to be a hybrid console that can be played on-the-go, and in order to sell enough of said consoles to make a profit, Nintendo has had to accept some limitations in graphical/audio fidelity. I primarily play this in handheld mode, as that is my reason for owning a Switch—AAA titles with portable playability! With that being said, here are my thoughts on the Switch port of WWZ (which I also own on PS4 and PC):Pros:+ Swarm Engine works surprisingly well on Switch (Hundreds of zombies on screen at once) and I have experienced no frame rate drop in handheld mode+ No reduction of base game characters/skill trees/weapons/equipment+ Controls are fairly tight; there is an Aim Assist that is very helpful with JoyCon aiming (it can be adjusted in the Controls menu)+ AI Director seems to switch up (I’m terribly sorry for this pun) Swarm timing and map variations just like the Console/PC version+ Online Multiplayer seems tight (don’t be surprised to wait a bit to get connected with random players publicly, however) and has voice chat (though people rarely seem to use it)+ AI bot teammates are pretty competent at killing zombies and helping you back up when they can, up through the Hard difficulty…any higher than that; you’ll need to find solid human teammates to fill out the rosterCons:- Obvious hits in visual fidelity based on the Switch’s hardware (playing in Docked Mode looks bad)- Audio takes a hit as well (I wish there was an option to download higher-quality audio packs)- No Local/LAN play option (this extends to all versions of the game)…that being said, it has to option to host your own P2P online game, but you still have to be connected to Nintendo Switch online- No Marseilles campaign missions at launch (though Saber’s Twitter feed says it’s incoming sometime this year for free)…unsure as to whether the Aftermath content will be available as DLC; I’d bet my paycheck that Saber is waiting to see how profitable Switch version sales are before they devote a lot of resources to itSummary:If you already love WWZ for being a L4D love letter while still having character/weapon progression and want to play it handheld and aren’t sure about the future of the Steam Deck, this is a solid option. If you want to have a true high-fidelity AAA experience on a console with limited hardware, you are bound to be disappointed. If your expectations are set accordingly and you love the grind-y feel of a game whose primary function is to allow you to mow down relentless waves of zombies, Saber Interactive has given you a real treat in allowing you to take this with you and play anywhere.TL;DR: Manage your expectations with regards to Switch hardware capabilities; play it in handheld mode and you won’t be disappointed.

If you like first person shooter games, you’ll like this. Even though the switch is a little more slower than a regular gaming console, you still get great graphics. The adventures are a bit challenging.

I played and lived this game on Xbox One. Always thought it would be great on handheld as it’s brief mission based. I haven’t tried the multiplayer, bit offline pay is great on my Switch Lite. Recommended for Switch owners like me that aren’t that into the Nintendo exclusives.

This game was surprisingly a blast to play. It plays similar to Left 4 Dead where you travel in a 4-person squad and essentially try to go from Point A to Point B while trying not to die. The stories were engaging, the level up system is a refreshing add-on, and it’s entertaining to watch or play. I ended up buying another copy for my wife to play with me and we have had a blast. The only down-side to this game is there is no introduction or explanation on how to controls work. You just have to play around and discover for yourself. Which is fun sometimes, aggravating other times. Either way, I still very much enjoyed it.
